New year - nothing new

Well so much for writing in this regularly, maybe I should have made a new years resolution?
Anyway, here we are, 2008 and January's half over already. I'm so ready for spring

Saw this , Rules Kids Won't Learn In School, actually schools should drill this into their heads.

I'm tired, for the last couple weeks I've been working every night after work, either at the Streamliner or Drywall finishing at the foundry, starting to get old :) One of these days I might actually have time after work to work on my webpage I've been putting off forever.

Today I'm going to be fighting with Report Server. It's straight forward enough creating reports from SQL but we're only using it to run reports from Sharepoint lists and are unable to do that without using Enesys RSextensions which makes the process a hell of a lot more complicated.

Tues 12-18

Came in this morning to find several of my servers down. The whole area had some power outages last night and one of my UPS's was down long enough to initiate shut down on all the servers it had plugged in. Going to have to replace that one it looks like, the other one kept everything going until power was restored.

Today's a weird day for the family, one daughter's going in for gall bladder surgury, another one gets stitches out from her wisdom teeth removal last week, another daughter's going in for an ultrasound and a grand daughter has a court date, all this happening before noon. Busy day!

Another Day

Just another day here. This day's flown by even though it's not been too busy. So far any help desk calls have been fairly simple to resolve so most of the day I've just been doing make-work.

I've installed the Office 2007 SP1 to mine and a couple other users, probably wait a few days to see what happens before pushing it out to the rest of us. I'm hoping it helps with a problem a couple of my users have with Excel opening to just a blank blue screen at times, they have to shut it off through task manager and start over for it to work again.

Indy Install-fest

So this is my first blog as well as my first time attending the IndyNDA meeting, I'm sure it won't be the last time.

The Visual Studio 2008 install-fest was fun, seems like a great group and as I begin this journey into developing applications I hope to draw on their experience in the future.

I actually managed to install Visual Studio on my old Dell laptop even though the processor didn't quite measure up to the recommended requirements. I had a slight problem at first with an error message telling me one of the cab files was corrupt. I pulled the disk out, wiped a fingerprint off of it, started setup again and it went off without a hitch.

I couldn't believe how many door prizes there were tonight, all the sponsors were very generous indeed. It seemed like there were at least 174 door prizes for the 175 attendees, which meant of course I had to be the lone loser that didn't get one!!

I was still glad I came, it was worth the 2 hour drive from Rochester. I hope to learn how to use this program now where I work, it should come in quite handy.
Thanks IndyNDA!
